a lunch stop

After Hvaler we stopped by some other friends who live in that hood. Unfortunately it has been a while since our last visit there, but we sure had fun then too. They served us an impeccable lunch before we got in the car to drive to Skien.

Btw, he is an excellent photographer - check out his photos here.

Here's an initial review on GIORGIO ARMANI FACE FABRIC FOUNDATION WITH SPF 12 IN 3 NATURAL BEIGE

PRICE: 3OOHKD
PLACE BOUGHT: GIORGIO ARMANI BOUTIQUE, HONG KONG AIRPORT

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION (taken from http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com):

“Fabric is the reason for my success.”

Giorgio Armani translates his skills in texture and layering into its unique range of cosmetic textiles, a wardrobe for face. Face fabric is an invisible makeup with a 3D Micro-fil technology.

Its unique Micro-fil™ formulations bring lightness and fluidity to makeup, allowing infinite blending and layering to enhance the natural glow of the skin.

A subtle, neutral palette is accented with two shades - porcelain and apricot - to be used alone to create a healthy-looking glow, combined with any of the shades to boost the color, or alone to sculpt or highlight the complexion. For normal to oily skin, providing sheer coverage.

CEW 2009 Face Product Prestige Award Winner.
Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Award Winner.

THE VERDICT:

Finally! I now have GA's face fabric foundation. I've been dying to get my hands on one and the universe has heard my plea! Yay!

Face fabric foundation is one of GA cosmetics' best- selling foundation variants. It boasts of the Micro- fil technology, a foundation innovation made by Armani. It promises to fill in fine lines and smoothen skin for a texture that's as perfect and smooth as fabric.

Let's review the packaging.

The only size for the face fabric foundation is 40ml. It comes in a plastic tube that doesn't look cheap. It saves space in your make- up kit and it's very lightweight!

Let's now review the product.

The texture of Face Fabric is like silicone, but not totally. It has this cream to powder consistency that makes it easy to blend. You also don't have to wait for it to dry, which is a con of some liquid foundations. It easily settles on the skin.

It is unscented, so no need to worry about perfume clogging your pores.

Coverage is light to medium. It's buildable so you can choose whether you want a sheer or a more obvious coverage.

Natural beige 3 a tad light for my skin tone. But it doesn't show because this foundation has amazing skin adjusting properties that helps the foundation blend with my natural skin tone.

Another great thing: IT HAS SPF! :)

Here's moi wearing the foundation. I love that it makes my skin photo- worthy! I can really see the difference with and without the foundation. It covered some of my minor blemishes. Indeed it dressed my skin like how fabric dresses the body. It looks very natural, and it doesn't seem as if I'm wearing foundation here!

Staying power is good. This is the best foundation for oily skinned people.

Price is a bit steep, but it's all worth it. One con is, it's unavailable here. Thank God I still have 4 more foundations on hand. Because if not, I'll use this up in no time!

I'm definitely buying one again! :)

**Face Fabric is not to be confused with Face Fabric Radiance, the FF variant that gives skin an illuminating glow.

Purple, love it or leave it?

Not everyone loves purple, but I do! And it's done so well in Nina Campbell's London residence featured by Veranda. I love everything about the room above, it's traditional yet whimsical, pretty but not too serious.

It is late and I am quite tired, but I wanted to wish you all a lovely weekend! I will be camping in our beautiful Northwest scenery in the company of good friends, spending time with my toes in the river. What about you?

rainy summer days

We just spent a couple of rainy days at a seaside cabin at Hvaler with our friends and their two kids (1,5 and 3,5 years). Instead of sun, sand and swim we had blueberries, waffles, champagne and pink Hello Kitty toe nails. We had a blast! Now we are in Skien to visit family on my mother's side.

I am continuously in awe of everything that Anna Bond designs, but these Heirloom Recipe Card Boxes might just be my favorite creation yet. Mita Corsini Bland - Illustrator of Sister Parish Design

illustration by Mita Corsini Bland for Sister Parish Design

I am crazy for beautiful illustrations of house interiors. Sometimes they seem to capture the essence of a room better than photographs (a little artistic license goes a long way). Mark Hampton's illustrations are some of my all time favorites (see his book Mark Hampton: On Decorating).

So, I was thrilled when I received my copy of Sister Parish Design - On Decorating and found that it was illustrated beautifully by Mita Corsini Bland. Between the illustrations and all of the helpful pointers from the best decorators of our time, this book is a must have for your design library.
