Odd Shots Monday # 2 - Camper

I captured this odd vehicle with my mobilephone at Leknes in Lofoten (Norway) on our vacation last summer. The vehicle is a swedish Saab 900 Toppola Camper.

You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours

I’m twixt ideas. Argh. After frantic writing for the past few weeks, I am suddenly at a loss. What to do, what to do?!

Ah yes, of course, the camera… So we set off to the Cape Point Nature Reserve which lies just 35 minutes south of Cape Town. It is the south-western most tip of Africa and it’s a beautiful drive along the coast. Since summer has decided to arrive unseasonably late this year, the weather was simply stunning.

Did you know, it was the circumnavigation of the Cape of Good Hope - ie Cape Town and Cape Point – that led to the establishment of a sea route to the East and subsequent trade?

The Reserve is well known for its preservation of the flora of the Cape Floral Kingdom, a highly endangered plant kingdom which consists of plants known collectively as “fynbos” - which literally translates as “fine bush”. The CFK is the smallest but most diverse of the world’s floral kingdoms. Fynbos is fire intensive and not only burns rapidly but needs regular burning in order to regenerate. Devastating fires are often a feature of the landscape. Fauna in the reserve is generally small although there are several species of antelope – though they tend to be shy. There are also troops of Chacma baboons…

The baboons (papino ursinus) are a protected species within the Cape Peninsula given their dwindling habitat, lost to increasing urbanization. The relationship between suburbia and baboons is not generally a happy one. The baboons are attracted by food and once habituated become aggressive and dangerous. They will not hesitate to raid rubbish bins and enter houses – where they will wreak havoc. In their natural state, however, they subsist on fruits, roots, bulbs, honey, insects and scorpions though these particular baboons have also adapted to include shellfish in their diet. They are highly sociable animals, living in groups of up to 40 or 50. Daytime is spent mostly on the ground, foraging and playing, while nighttime will see them roosting in a tree of a cave.

Social grooming is a feature of baboon behaviour and is usually done between same sex individuals and helps to form social bonds within a troop. When chilled out and relaxed, the baboons can be great fun to watch...

Right, my son, let's see about those fleas...

Bend over, then.
What, like this?
That'll do.

Ooh, er, that's nice... go on then, lower, lower. Ooh, no, that tickles!

There you go, that's the spot! Here, what are you looking at? Do I watch you when you bath? Bog off, then!

Right, my turn. I'll just stand, shall I, so you can get to the lower bits...

Ooh, I think I've found something... Wait, wait, don't move, yes, there it is!

That's my boy, you get it out of there. Can't have my coat messed up by fleas. Next thing you know they'll be wanting to open a flea circus on my back...

Ooooh, errrrr, aaaaah, now you've hit the spot, my boy... oooooh....

Green Tara

GREEN TARA [Sanskrit: Syamatara],

Mudra [posture]: vitarka (argument) & varad (charity) mudra,
Symbol: Blue lotus [utpala].

Tibetan Lamaism considers Green Tara to be the original Tara. In fact, the Tibetan name for the goddess is do-ngon, which means 'the original Tara' but ngon, original has sometime been interpreted by some Lama with sngo, meaning 'green', and the epithet 'green' has become inseparable from this form of Tara, which symbolizes the Divine Energy.

Green Tara is represented seated on a lotus-throne, the right leg pendant, with the foot supported by a small lotus, the stem of which is attached to the lotus throne. She is slender, graceful in her pose, and dressed like a Bodhisattva and wears the five-leafed crown. These leaves of crown symbolize five Dhyani-Buddhas. Some time in her crown, the five Dhyani-Buddhas are figured.
Her hair is abundant and wavy. Her right hand is in varad or 'charity' mudra, and her left, which is in 'argument' mudra, holds the lotus.
She has two full open [human] eyes, where as her another manifestation the White Tara has seven meditation [half-closed] eyes. The goddess may also be represented with a small image of Amoghasiddhi [one of the five Dhyani-Buddhas] in her headdress.

Tibetan Lamaism believed that Tara was incarnate in all good women, and in the seventh century they declared the two pious of the Tibetan Buddhist king, sRong-tsan-sgam-po, incarnations of Tara. She was then given two distinct forms: the 'white' believed to be incarnate in the Chinese princess Wen-ch'eng, daughter of a Chinese prince belonging to imperial family; and the 'green Tara', incarnate in the Nepalese princess Brikuti, daughter of the king Ansu Verman. Both queens are believed to have brought with them various scriptures, images of Buddha and cult to Tibet. She is regarded as mother of all Buddha and savior of all sentient beings from worldly miseries.
Tara Mantra by Ani Choying Drolma (Dolma)

OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA

Some Silver Bangle With TARA MANTRA (*NEW arrived)

OM represents Tara's sacred body, speech and mind.
TARE means liberating from all discontent.
TUTTARE means liberating from the eight fears, the external dangers, but mainly from the internal dangers, the delusions.
TURE means liberating from duality; it shows the true cessation of confusion.
SOHA means "may the meaning of the mantra take root in my mind."

Albero grand opening challenge - Sakura goodie shrine hunt

Until March 31st ALBERO2 (Cilix (55, 88, 29) is celebrating it's grand opening. They are doing this by having a hunt around the mall area. First collect all the passwords. You'll find these in black boxes with white numbers; touch to receive a note card with the password on it. Then you teleport to the stores that have the 'main store' sign out front. Once at the store you should find a black box with a white number on it (corresponding with the password box). If you've collected that "#" secret password then copy and paste the password from the notecard into general/open chat and press enter. Viola you get a prize. There are more than 15 prizes and a couple for the guys like the hair I'm sporting in the first photo. Collect them all and good luck. (More about the hunt on Sachi's blog here.)

The prizes are shown with Rosemar skin (the slurl isn't exact since these have moved to her freebie section), other freebies that were found at the main stores offering prizes, and First Egg [JPL OSAKA (188, 31, 23)] (black - mules) shoes. Also featured are necklace/tags found in the Sakura Shrine hunt done on the JPL sims & others you can look around for a giant temple while picking up the shoes at First Egg. Just follow the Sakura (cherry) trees around until you find the temples and touch the prize ball machine to receive a necklace.

Grand Opening

You can camp for cherry trees if you sit on the PINK ball in the little sitting areas on the JPL sims. You can see the seating area in the background of this photo. ONLY the PINK ball is a camper spot - 20 minutes earns you one sakura tree in one of 3 sizes (sm, med, large).

Some easter holiday pics from Calahonda (Spain) # 2

Sitio de Calahonda is the largest property development you will find between Marbella and Fuengirola. In fact, this neighbourhood has grown so successfully that it could qualify as a town.
