interior inspiration : sweet spots for breakfast.

There's something I really adore about breakfast nooks, or just cozy spots that are perfect for your morning coffee and toast. I have a little red Ikea cafe table in my kitchen that I sit at every morning that in against the window where I get my daily caffeine fill while watching the rain (hey, this is Portland) and it might just be my favorite spot in the house.

a kitchen gallery.

One of my favorite things when redecorating my home (which I am in the process of right now) is figuring out the art to go on the walls of each room. Today I am working on the kitchen, a place where I want to be spending more time in, but I am realizing that none of the illustrations and photography prints I own seem to work right in there. And so, I am dreaming of a wall of perfect food-related kitchen art that I could look at every day while baking, cooking, and drinking my coffee. I think a collection is in the making...

ten images of inspiration : back to baking.

One of my favorite things about the arrival of fall is the fact that I will be going back to spending more time in my kitchen baking. When the weather cools, I cannot help but turn on the oven and start making breads and various sweets. My baker heart (and hand) is ready.

baker's delight.

Since I am terribly obsessed with baking pies, this pastry board is perfection. Not only is it pretty to look at, but is quite useful (it features markings for rolling pie crust to fit a variety of pie pans.) I want. ($44)

recipe boxes.

I am continuously in awe of everything that Anna Bond designs, but these Heirloom Recipe Card Boxes might just be my favorite creation yet. Each box is handcrafted from trees that were destined for landfills through a 3-month process, then screen-printed with two different design options. For a baker like myself, this would be one of the best gifts I could think of. ($120, available for pre-order)
