Right now: completely and madly loving the recent Paris homes as photographed by Rachael Smith. They're so stylish and romantic, I wish I could move in immediately.

interior inspiration : sweet spots for breakfast.

There's something I really adore about breakfast nooks, or just cozy spots that are perfect for your morning coffee and toast. I have a little red Ikea cafe table in my kitchen that I sit at every morning that in against the window where I get my daily caffeine fill while watching the rain (hey, this is Portland) and it might just be my favorite spot in the house.

Few things make me feel more at ease than being surrounded by shelves and piles of books. I adore getting peeks into the homes of fellow book collectors- it feels almost voyeuristic.

I love the look of contrasting shades- bright whites/lights with dark elements, especially in homes. It seems to make every accent more eye-catching (plus, who could argue with the classic combo of black & white?)

I know, I know- such a girly post, but I now have my own room and have gone with very (vintage) feminine style for it. One of my favorite parts is a wall of old floral art hangings that I have been collecting- it just makes me happy looking up at it when I wake up in the morning.

One thing I very rarely get tired of: brightly-colored walls in homes. I'm a complete sucker for candy colors and bolder earth tones. I think they can cheer up an entire home.
