be a good girl

One of my favorite photographers and good friend, Jördis, has started a blog - be a good girl. She has also started a series she calls "how I met". Her first feature is how I met Astrid :-)

This photo was taken (with an unknown slide film, Olympus mju) when I visited Jördis and her husband Mathias in Berlin in May 2008. My sister, Lori and Ken was there too. Good times!

most inspiring blogger

As I mentioned here, Karianne of the lovely Mammadamen gave me an award; I am someone's absolute number 1 most inspiring blogger! Her wonderful words made me humbled and happy, and inspire me to keep on doing this Hei Astrid thing (don't worry, I haven't thought of stopping ;-)).

Now my duty is
- to give this award to the blogger I find most inspiring + explain why (with photos)
- to only give the award to ONE blogger; this is a special award
- to link back to HERE where the award's journey started

This is of course a hard task because I follow a lot of super inspiring blogs written by a bunch of super inspiring people. Since the award was created by a Norwegian blogger - Namaste of Kreativ Impulsiv - I decided to pass the award on to one of the Norwegian blogs I follow. (I have also noticed that this blog award thing seems to be a phenomenon on Norwegian blogs.) Still it's a hard choice, but my final decision is

Linda of Norsk Stil

Linda is my number one most inspiring blogger because


Linda's profession as an interior architect reflects on her blog. I love her design tips and seeing her design inspiration, which is different than most other Norwegian interior design blogs. I also love that she shares a mix of her own work/home and things done by others.


Seeing photos of other people's homes inspire me. Linda's home is truly inspiring - both in photos and in real life (I was there for the launch of the 2011 IKEA catalogue).


Her selfmade projects are beautiful, functional and decorative.


She's an elegant lady with an impeccable sense of fashion.


She has designed her own color for Kulør. Midnight darkness never looked better!

food bloggers in D2

I have mentioned before how much I love D2, the Friday supplement of the financial newspaper Dagens Næringsliv. Last Friday the main article was about food bloggers. Some of my favorites were there - Orangette, The Wednesday Chef and delicious days - pluss two that are new to me: Cannelle et Vanille and the Norwegian Lekkermunn. I loved this article! As luck would have it, that whole issue of D2 is available online (it normally isn't) for all of you to read - or just flick through if you don't read Norwegian.

PS: Here is another interview with Molly of Orangette, found via the art of seeing things.
PS2: When I took that photo above (film: Fuji Pro 160S) I thought about Molly because she has a savoy cabbage in her blog header.
PS3: Unfortunately Molly's photos have been given the wrong credit. It says that Carla Leonardi took the photos; she only took the portrait of Molly. The other three photos on top of the page are by Molly.

Talking about food; I'm kind of thinking of making a Blurb book of the dinner project. What do you think, yay or nay?

The girl behind one of my favorite blogs Siggelicious and her man - both architects in Fantastic Norway - are selling their apartment in Oslo. What an amazing place! I think we have to hire this couple when we one day in the future are rebuildning our basement.

Pittsburgh Public Art Resources

The URA and the Office of Public Art have come up with a document to help with and promote contracting Pittsburgh artists for commissioning small and large scale works of art. As mentioned in the guide public art doesn't always need to mean sculptures but can also be 2 dimensional works of art to be displayed inside of buildings.

The Pittsburgh Office of Public Art has published a new document titled, “Add Value Add Art” The document billed as a, “public art resource guide for developers,” was produced at the request of Urban Redevelopment Authority which wanted to help promote public art in new developments around town.

The document can be found at the URA web site.
