Tuesday's Inspiration: Kate Moss

I personally love that Kate Moss channels the looks from iconic women like Marianne Faithfull, Anita Pallenberg, Jane Birkin or Brigitte Bardot. It makes it easier for us to relate to past decades I think.

In any case I love her green little dress and those Longchamp bags.

Sunday's Inspiration

We're well aware that there aren't as many updates as usual but while we're trying to get back into a routine to post more regularly, you can have a look at what's going on in Milan right now. With the fashion week being in town for a couple more days, the streets are filled with fashionable people having a break inbetween shows. These photos belong to fellow blogger Elif, on whose blog you can find many more.

Istanbul Fashion Week: Day 2

Bora Aksu S/S 2011

On the second day I only attended two shows, the first one being Atil Kutoglu and the second Bora Aksu.

London-based Turkish designer Bora Aksu has been part of the official schedule of London Fashion Feek since 2004 but this was his first catwalk show in Istanbul. The inspiration for his collection comes from Istanbul and its light, as the designer explains himself: "For me one of the best parts of Istanbul is the light that changes every single hour..." Consecuently the fabrics and colors chosen were also inspired by it: pastel colors that are divided by strong color blocks that create a strong contrast on light-reflecting materials like silk tulle, organza or brocade.

As much as I enjoyed the two shows I've been to today, I have a feeling that what I experience outside the shows is so much more fun than waiting in lines to get into the venue, for instance. Today I met Pelayo amongst others and had a really good time!

Istanbul Fashion Week: Day 1

The opening presentation to the third Istanbul Fashion Week was the KOZA Young designers contest, which was supported by the Istanbul Fashion Academy and ELLE Turkey. Many aspiring talents competed in the two categories Ready-to-Wear and Leather and five of them were the winners of the evening. The leather industry is one of the significant export sectors of Turkey and by encouraging the young designers to put their creativity into it will help to combine unique designs and high quality production.

Since ELLE Turkey was part of the organization of this event they put together a little gathering with their editors from different countries like Belgium, the Netherlands and the US amongst others. The aftershow party which was held at Reina with its breathtaking view was the perfect ending to the kick-off event and left me with more excitement for the days to come...

This gorgeous woman is wearing the two pieces I've been coveting for a long time now.
I think a light weight parka, preferably in khaki, is a must for me this spring! Last year I almost found the perfect vintage leather skirt which was also really inexpensive because the sales person didn't notice it was genuine leather. (I love it when that happens!) ^^
Unfortunately it was a wee bit small for me so my closet still lacks one...

Julia von Boehm, 30 year old stylist, freelancer and New York correspondent of Vogue Paris, is a huge source of inspiration for me. Her pictures on the Sartorialist or Jak&Jil always leave me in awe and her outfit showing off her pregnant belly caused quite a stir in the fashion world. Alexander Wang Spring 2010

The colours of these see-through panel sweaters are lovely and I think they look much better than last year's cutout sweater. Kinda also like something my granny would knit for me when I was little, minus the mesh panels of course. What do you think? I also have a fascination with Anna Selezneva's face at the moment.Those cheekbones and eyes... so pretty!

Istanbul Fashion Days: Day 2

I am definitely enjoying the advantages of being from the press. Front row seats, anyone? ^^

Yesterday I attended the Hakan Yildirim for Koton show together with Moda Cadisi and her friend D. It was very exciting to see everything up-close and we all liked various designs of the capsule collection. I was especially fond of the shorts and trousers combined with blouses. Unfortunately I only took pictures with the disposable camera that was in the goodie bag but I'm sure there'll be some nice pictures on Moda Cadisi.
