1043: Edward the Confessor is crowned King of England. Edward the Tattler is beheaded.
1895: Oscar Wilde's trial begins, eventually he is convicted of being a homosexual and is sent to prison... apparently as a reward for being a homosexual.
1973: The first portable cell phone call is made in New York City. Naturally, it was in a crowded movie theater and disturbed everyone for 15 minutes.
