The Barracudas - I Want My Woody Back

On this date in 1979, The Barracudas released their debut single, "I Want My Woody Back". It was backed by "Subway Surfin'". Neither track appeared on their debut album, Drop Out With The Barracudas. The London band started as a surf punk band consisting of a Swiss guitarist (Robin Wills), a Canadian lead vocalist (Jeremy Gluck) and two Englishman (Nick Turner and David Buckley). Numerous lineup changes and a move away from the surf influence contributed to their demise and they were history by 1984 but they have re-formed in recent years. Drummer Nick Turner went on to become an original member of Lords Of The New Church.
